Line25 Sites of the Week for May 25th 2012

Line25 Sites of the Week is a weekly roundup of the most outstanding website designs that I stumble across during my every day browsing. In this week’s collection, we have designs from Finch, Google Ventures, Andy Chak, Loft Resumes and A Student’s Guide to Web Design.

I'm starting to notice that a lot of these designs look the same.

My thought is that professional looks clean, and clean follows a familiar formula. They each have their own tweaks to make it theirs, but by and large the style is the same.

I like Finch. I don't like the Student's Guide to Web Design. It has ugly, boring colors, and it reminds me of a WordPress standard theme (Not that that's a bad thing, just looks ordinary).

  There are many similarity in web designs these days, look at many WordPress theme, most have a big slide or video and then under it three , two or one column layout. I think nice design goes to detail and how they treat or bring in small details, I like the Student Guide.
  The pixel rules on the left and right is a differentiators point.

Did you actually look at the sites, or just the thumbnails, I did noticed that in thumbnail form they looked similar..

In the browser they look very distinct and behave very differently from one another, I feel like you forgot to actually look at them before posting your comment.
