I’m curious, when is the big “hero” background image with slogan fad going to go away? How useful is this? Seems borderline to a homepage takeover ad. And we all know how annoying they are.

    • Carlos, I’d argue that it’s no different than the page banners that were so prominent in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. It is simply an engaging “welcome” section that greets the visitor with a beautiful image or video, and is a great space for branding. And now, with everything being responsive, it hardly takes up space (it’s gone with the flick of a thumb).

Nice, I really like Digital Telepathy UI, dark and elegant.

These designs look good and everything, but nearly all your sites of the week are big image backgrounds with a slogan over the top. You need more variety.

    Hey Chris,

great collection of sites; I am particularly impressed by Cleverbird. There design ethos and implementation is something I aspire to achieve.

i literally thought the first 3 were the same site.
    these are always the same.

Great selection Chris. Digital Telepathy must have the longest video I have ever seen

  7. Fragweb says:

Awesome designs, i like the first one especially , who they picked the images, they match so much.

  8. I love these Site’s of the week. I will admit that I am getting a little bored of the trend of large background welcome image. Also I would love to see some examples of other industries, maybe some corporate sites. As a developer/designer I come here often for inspiration. Great work though Chris, keep it going.
