This web design trend can easily go unnoticed, but if you pay attention you’ll find that it is actually quite popular! We’ve seen all kinds of images spanning our screens thanks to the big photo web design trend, but one type in particular that’s increasing in popularity is the close up portrait. Close-ups easily convey a certain mood or emotion to a viewer, which in web design can help set the scene or entice the viewer into sticking around. Today’s showcase features 30 great examples of the close up portrait trend, these sites all contain tightly framed intimate photos of faces to connect to the user.

I just had a client that asked me to “Zoom more on their faces” for a card rack, at first I was confused but now I see! This reminds me of the intro to Orange is the New Black. This is trending even outside of webdesign, thanks for gathering these images- They are great examples.
