Typefaces are often described as being serif or sans serif (without serifs). Serifs are small decorative lines added as embellishment to the basic form of a character.

For example, the most common serif typeface is Times New Roman and a common sans serif typeface is Helvetica.

In this post we’ve selected 35 serif fonts for designers. Among these serif fonts you’ll find both free and premium typefaces, some of which you can download instantly and others which require buying a license in order to use them in your designs.

Some of the serif fonts presented in this list are a bit more unusual and have some modern details. We hope you’ll like them!

So, which one of these serif fonts do you like most and why? Let us know in the comment section below.

Wow, that’s a great list. It is sad to see so many websites that have been designed by someone who isn’t knowledgeable on fonts. When I see an ugly font staring at me I tend to get put off instantly and simply leave the page

Borg, Voga, Portland and Willow are especially beautiful.

All these are brilliant fonts and depict the usability as well as applicability of font type on user experience. The font used in website content holds crucial importance. Among all the above fonts I liked Bienetresocial the most. Brela Regular is another font which can be used on professional websites.
